It’s official.
Lawrence North five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales — the top-ranked receiver in the country and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Indiana — announced his commitment to Indiana on Friday at noon on the Pat McAfee Show, ending one of the most highly anticipated recruiting decisions in Indiana prep sports history.
Sales chose Indiana over finalists, Texas, Alabama, Ohio State, and LSU — a final five that read like a who’s who of college football’s most elite programs. The decision brings to a close a recruitment that has been tracked nationally for over two years and produced one of the most watched individual recruiting decisions in the country this cycle.
Who He Is
Monshun Sales is 6-foot-5, 205 pounds, and runs a 10.81 in the 100 meters at his size — a combination of length, athleticism, and explosiveness that 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins described plainly: “One of the biggest freakshows in the country with his hulking frame and elite athletic markers.”
He projects as an X wide receiver who can stretch defenses vertically with his speed and make contested grabs on the outside with his size.
Sales finished his junior season at Lawrence North with 37 catches for 794 yards — 21.5 yards per catch — and 9 touchdowns. A two-way starter, Sales also had 56 tackles as a safety on defense. Over his last two varsity seasons combined, Sales reeled in 71 receptions for 1,362 yards and 16 touchdowns.
He also runs track — competing in the 100, 200, and 4×100 relay — and participates in the long jump, giving him a multi-sport athleticism that evaluators say is a major component of his long-term projection at the next level.
The Rankings
The updated USA TODAY Sports composite rankings have him as the No. 7 overall player in the country as well as the top-ranked receiver in the 2027 class. 247Sports ranks Sales as the No. 13 overall player in the 2027 cycle and the No. 1 wide receiver in the class. Rivals checks him in at No. 7 in their five-star rankings, No. 2 receiver nationally behind Texas commit Easton Royal, and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Indiana.
Regardless of which service you use, the conclusion is the same. Monshun Sales is the best receiver in his class and one of the most coveted players in the country.
What He Brings to Indiana
What is not in dispute is what Sales brings to whatever program lands him. He is a physically imposing X receiver who creates mismatches at the line of scrimmage with his size and wins vertically with his track speed. He runs the route tree and adjusts to the ball in contested situations at a level that most high school receivers can’t replicate. He is also a proven two-way player, having logged 56 tackles as a safety last fall, which signals the kind of football IQ and competitive drive that translates across positions at the next level.
The school that lands Monshun Sales is getting a player who could be one of the highest-drafted wide receivers from the 2027 class — and one of the most significant recruiting wins in recent memory for whatever program he chose today.
The Local Connection
This story didn’t happen in a vacuum for Indiana. Sales plays at Lawrence North — the same school that produced Omar Cooper Jr., who won an Indiana state championship, became a first-round NFL Draft pick with the New York Jets, and played a central role in Indiana’s national championship season.
