Perry Central continues to give Southern Indiana a team worth watching.
The Commodores earn Indiana Preps Volleyball Team of the Week after extending their undefeated start to 16-0 with wins over North Daviess and Tecumseh during the September 1-6 competition period.
The statement came Thursday against Tecumseh. Perry Central took down the previously 6-1 Braves in four sets, 25-17, 20-25, 25-23, 25-15. After Tecumseh evened the match in the second set and pushed the Commodores in the third, Perry Central closed the night with a convincing 10-point fourth-set win.
Masen Labhart led the way with 17 kills, 16 digs and two aces, while Bryn Yeager added nine kills and 16 digs.
At 16-0, Perry Central has moved beyond being simply one of the teams to watch in Class 2A. The Commodores are building one of the best early-season résumés in the state.
