In the past, Indiana Preps would receive all kind of backlash for selecting a 3A team in the top 5 of our Power 25 rankings. However, when that team is the Bishop Chatard Trojans, there is little debate on whether they belong or not. Outside of their lone loss to Cathedral last season, the Trojans ran rampant through Class 3A by winning the title in convincing fashion, 34-3 over a really good Heritage Hills team.

It is not out of the realm of possibility for a rematch in Class 3A. The Heritage Hills Patriots is accustom to winning and playing deep into the tournament. Then there is a West Lafayette team ready to disrupt the chance of a rematch. The Red Devils again have a talented roster, despite losing Indiana Preps 2019 Offensive Player of the Year in quarterback Kyle Adams. Three Red Devil players were selected to our Indiana Preps preseason all state teams. Senior linebacker Yanni Karlaftis, an Indiana Preps Preseason Small School All State selection, is considered one of the Midwest’s best college prospects. Junior wideout Cannon Melchi and defensive lineman Mo Omonode also earned Indiana Preps Preseason Underclasmen All State honors.

It’d be unfair to leave out the Brebeuf Jesuit Braves in the conversation. With 15 starters returning to a 7-3 team, and a senior quarterback leading the offense again, the Braves will not go away quietly. Budding star in two-way player Joe Strickland will keep opposing coaches awake at night. Strickland is an absolute terror at the defensive end position. The Indiana Preps Preseason Underclassmen All State selection has collected a few college offers from teams representing the B1G, ACC and BIG 12 conferences.

Sectional 28 is arguably the toughest in the state. Any of the three mentioned programs from sectional 28 could end up in at the Class 3A state championship.
