There has only been a few teams in the state who have found success after moving up classes. After back-to-back appearances in the Class 3A title game, and claiming one championship, the Evansville Reitz Memorial Tigers were given the daunting task of playing in Class 4A last season. All the Tigers did was prowl their way to a state championship title. Two state championships in two different classes is no small feat. Like any championship team, there will be holes to fill for Head Coach John Hurley. All State quarterback Colton Pence will ease some of the pain, after returning under center after throwing for 24 touchdowns in 2019.
When talking tradition in Indiana about high school football, the Hobart Brickies come to mind. The storied program is looking more like yesteryear with their final four appearance in 2019. Illinois State recruit, senior linebacker Bobby Babcock is back to anchor the defense. A team on the road to redemption can be found at East Noble high school. The Knights were the 2019 runner-ups in Class 4A and a return to Lucas Oil stadium will hinge on the 12 starters that return to the 14-1 team.
Keep an eye on the Mooresville Pioneers, East Central Trojans and rising program Mount Vernon Marauders.
