Indianapolis Pike defensive back Josh Hayes loves to compete and does not shy away from calling himself the best defensive back in the state. Last Friday, he received the opportunity to prove this against the number one quarterback prospect in the nation, in Brownsburg (Tennessee Recruit) QB Hunter Johnson. Not only did Hayes rise to the occasion, he picked Johnson off twice, including a pick six. Hayes covered one of the best wide receivers in the state in Tyler Kirtz as well. A stingy defense harrassed Johnson all night and helped Pike secure a 55-34 victory in Brownsburg.
Hayes is a Purdue commit for 2016. However, we expect more suitors if he continues to showcase he’s the best defensive back in the state.
