Indiana Preps | PrepsNext — Class of 2031
The future of Indiana high school football hit the turf Sunday at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center, home of the Indianapolis Colts.
The young stars put on a show. Big plays. Big bodies. And a list of names worth knowing as Indiana Preps launches PrepsNext.
In a controlled scrimmage, the Team Indiana South eighth-grade squad was impressive to start its season against its northern counterparts. No official score was kept. The South put up six touchdowns to the North’s two.
The Opening Drive Set the Tone
Class of 2031 quarterback Cristian Luce-Madrigal led his team on a scoring drive on the first possession, finding wide receiver Knox Weisheit for a big play that set up a short touchdown run by running back Jaxson Rowland.
From there, the South offense did not slow down.
Luce-Madrigal also found the end zone on the ground. Owen Nossett and Rowland paced the ground game behind an offensive line that resembled a Friday night lineup, which tells you where this team’s identity is headed. Expect the run game to stay the course.
Asher Holbrook found the end zone on the final play of the scrimmage.
Foster and Hopson Made the Deep Ball Look Easy
The quarterback depth is a plus.
When Luce-Madrigal is out, defenses have to deal with Cade Foster. The last name is a familiar one in Indiana high school football. His older brother, Zach Foster, starred at Gibson Southern.
The Titan connection between Foster and Weisheit was on full display. That included a couple of tosses to Tyler Bezy, another future Titan.

Then there is Nehemiah Hopson, a name that everyone should be paying attention to.
Hopson is a polished route runner and a natural hands catcher for his age. He has an understanding of body control and high-pointing the football, and he won every 50/50 ball thrown his way. The Foster-to-Hopson deep ball connection led to two more scores.
The Defense Lived in the Backfield
The South defense was impressive for the entire scrimmage.
It did not allow a score in the first 12-play segment. The North’s two touchdowns came on drives that started at the plus-40 and the 10-yard line, the short-field segments of the scrimmage. Safety Steele Edwards made a great play on the ball to end the North’s 12-play segment.
Defensive lineman Zion Akinremi is a name to know. He lived in the North’s backfield for the better part of the afternoon. He is supported by a pair of bookends with high school body types, Colton Abel and Tyler Bezy.
Linebackers Landry Scruggs and Dallas Ricker are steady tacklers the South will be able to lean on.
