When it came time for Kirkland to trim his list, he had an idea of what it would take for teams to make the cut. It wasn’t so much the stadium or appeal of nationally televised football games. It came down to one simple thing, relationships. With Texas and Oklahoma jumping in the game late, he says both schools have been communicating with him for months. Texas’ new head coach Charlie Strong never lost contact with Kirkland and has been recruiting him for over a year. Kirkland believes he has a great opportunity to play early at Texas or Oklahoma and says he’s comfortable with the Texas staff. “I’ve developed a great sense of comfort with the staff and when I visit hopefully I feel the same way about the school” Kirkland said.

With plans to visit Texas soon, he also plans to get to Norman, Oklahoma sometime this summer. As for a team outside of his Top 10 getting in on the recruitment of Kirkland, “I can’t see anyone right now, I’m very excited about all of these schools” Kirkland said.

With visits set for the Summer, look for the INPrep50 linebacker to make a decision on where he will commit to this August, prior to the Fall season.
