Five-star LB Jaylon Smith of Fort Wayne, IN announced on Saturday his commitment to play for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Smith who recently trimmed his list of schools to 3, chose Notre Dame over Ohio State and Southern California. This commitment was a must get for Coach Kelly & the Irish giving the fact Smith is a local kid. Smith had over 30 college scholarship offers and has been ranked by several media outlets as the #1 LB in the nation and #5 player overall. The 6’3 220lb Smith will give the Irish their 13th commit from the class of 2013. All Spring Jaylon Smith has been king of the camps and combines he has attended.  The combination of his size, strength and speed makes Smith the most complete athlete in the class of 2013 and adds a much needed playmaker to the Irish team.
