Two high school football players have announced their college commitments to Grand Valley State University. Homestead Spartans (Fort Wayne) quarterback Michael White announced his commitment to the Lakers on X on Wednesday night. As a junior last season, White threw for 1,439 yards, 12 passing yards, and a 93.9 QBR. He also rushed for 318 yards with 2 touchdowns. White is also a star in track and field for the Spartans.
In addition to White’s commitment, Fishers High School’s defensive tackle Tyler Maynard went to X to announce his intentions to join White and commit to Grand Valley State as well. Last season for the Tigers, he finished with 69 tackles, 7 of which were for a loss. Maynard’s commitment to GVSU makes it two players from the state of Indiana to commit to the football program in the past week.
The Grand Valley State Lakers are a Division II program that is coming off an impressive 11-2 record in 2024 and continues to become one of the most respected football programs in Division II. Lakers coach Scott Wooster took over the program in January of 2023 and is putting together a solid recruiting class. Also, back in July Westfield’s defensive end Alex Aramboles announced his commitment as well. This gives the Lakers three of their five commits for the 2026 recruiting class from the state of Indiana.
