Decatur Central’s Hunter Harvey is the Indiana Preps Football Player of the Week, powered by Phenom Elite.
Harvey earned 35.6 percent of the fan vote after a four-touchdown performance in Decatur Central’s 62-24 win over Perry Meridian. The senior carried 18 times for 156 yards and scored four rushing touchdowns, averaging 8.7 yards per carry and finding the end zone once every 4.5 attempts.
His performance was enough to edge one of Week 8’s biggest comeback efforts.
Evansville Memorial quarterback Luke Brown finished second with 28 percent of the vote after helping the Tigers erase a 21-point deficit against previously unbeaten Floyd Central in the Indiana Preps Week 8 Game of the Week. Brown threw for 396 yards and two touchdowns as Memorial rallied for a 34-28 victory and improved to 8-0 — continuing an impressive stretch for the Tigers, who handed previously unbeaten opponents their first losses in back-to-back weeks after beating Reitz 30-27 in Week 7.
But this week belongs to Harvey.
