Doak posted a 2.24 serve receive rating across the week with 67 digs at 8.38 per set — a per-set average that leads the team and reflects a player who is involved in virtually every defensive possession. She added 9 assists and 2 aces. Reece Blanton | Senior | Setter
Blanton posted 73 assists at 9.13 per set across the week — consistent with what she delivered earlier this season when Indiana Preps first covered the Huskies. Against Western on September 10, she had 35 assists, 10 digs, and two aces in a 3-0 sweep where Hamilton Heights didn’t drop a set by fewer than 14 points. For the week she added 25 digs at 3.13 per set, 7 kills, and 3 aces. The 9.13 assists per set average is a setter operating in full command of the offense. When Blanton is running the floor, Hamilton Heights’ attack has options everywhere.
Reagan Van Kirk | Attacker
27 kills and 16 digs in the week — a two-sided contribution that reflects the versatility Van Kirk has been showing all season. Against Western she was a primary offensive weapon with 12 kills and eight digs. The 1 ace added to a week where she produced points and kept balls alive. Van Kirk’s development alongside the senior setter-libero tandem is one of the quieter storylines of Hamilton Heights’ season.
Riley Suarez | Attacker
21 kills at .340 hitting percentage with 5 blocks. The efficiency number is the most important data point. A .340 hitting percentage reflects a player making excellent decisions at the net — not forcing kills into bad angles but finding the right shot when the set is there. The blocking contribution adds a defensive dimension that changes how opponents approach Hamilton Heights’ front row.
The Picture
Hamilton Heights is 13-5, winning at home, and has their two senior leaders playing the best volleyball of their careers at the right time of season. Guerin Catholic falls on the books as a 3-0 win on September 1. Logansport fell 3-0. Western fell 3-0 with Blanton posting 35 assists.
The losses have come against programs with legitimate statewide credentials — New Palestine, Benton Central, Noblesville, Carmel among them. The schedule hasn’t been soft. The Huskies are building something heading toward October.
