Terre Haute South hasn’t just been winning. The Braves have been making the opposition look overmatched doing it.
Eight games into the 2026 season, Terre Haute South is 8-0 with a combined scoring margin of 251-80 and the No. 3 ranking in Indiana on MaxPreps. In eight games, they have not been competitive, they have been dominant — and Friday’s two-game sweep of McCutcheon and Harrison put an exclamation point on a week that confirmed this program belongs in the state championship conversation.
The Braves beat McCutcheon 34-12 in the morning and Harrison 26-6 in the afternoon, extending a winning streak that has now produced wins over Lebanon, Northview twice, Pike, Terre Haute North, North Central, McCutcheon, and Harrison. That’s a schedule that includes a rival city opponent, Indianapolis metro competition, and conference opponents who came in with their own ambitions.
None of them left with a win.
The early-season résumé tells the full story. Terre Haute South opened with a 36-0 shutout of Lebanon on August 13. They beat Pike — an Indianapolis program — 20-6 away from home on September 5. They shut out crosstown rival Terre Haute North 27-0 in conference play on September 10. The two wins Friday made it four conference victories without dropping a game.
251 points scored. 80 allowed. Eight wins. No losses.
The schedule ahead is about to get harder. Terre Haute South visits Terre Haute North again on September 22 before hosting Silver Creek and Floyd Central on September 26 — that last one a potential top-five matchup between two of the state’s better undefeated programs in Indiana girls flag football.
