Bedford North Lawrence quarterback Dayson Kirby has been voted the Indiana Preps Week 1 Player of the Week, earning 33.6% of the fan vote.

Kirby delivered a historic performance in the Stars’ season-opening win over Martinsville, completing 22 of 34 passes for 407 yards and 5 touchdowns. The victory marked Bedford North Lawrence’s first home win over the Artesians since 1979, adding even more significance to Kirby’s standout night.

South Putnam running back Ty Benton finished second in voting with 26.4%, after a monster performance of his own: 24 carries for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Rounding out the top three was Wyatt Bowling, who captured 19.5% of the vote with his Week 1 showing.

Kirby’s big night not only put him atop the polls but also set the tone for what could be a special season for Bedford North Lawrence.
