After helping Northeastern capture its first sectional title in 13 years, Ady Kircher has been a driving force behind the Lady Knights’ best start this season. Since making her varsity debut as a true freshman, Kircher has consistently made a significant impact on the court. Widely regarded as one of the top point guards in the state, her greatest accomplishment has been leading by example and serving as a role model for the next generation of Northeastern girls’ basketball players. Kircher’s junior-year leadership and dynamic playstyle have drawn fans from the community, creating an environment of support and excitement for a Lady Knights team that boasts a perfect 10-0 record heading into tomorrow night’s game at Lawrenceburg. The support from the community has inspired Ady to give her best effort every time she steps on the court.
“My greatest accomplishment besides our sectional title would probably just be being a role model to the younger group of girls! It’s so cool to have fans and people who wouldn’t normally come out to a girls’ basketball game showing up to see us play! Having that environment really pushes us,” Kircher shared with Indiana Preps.
If there’s one word to define Ady’s game, it’s energy. Her enthusiasm and confidence are contagious, motivating her teammates and elevating the team’s overall performance.
“If I had to choose something, I’d say my energy. When one of us gets pumped up, it becomes contagious, and I’m not afraid to show my excitement,” she explained.
One of the highlights of Ady’s high school career came on November 22nd, when she scored a career-high 40 points and recorded seven steals in an 89-3 victory over Union City. Kircher became only the second player in school history to achieve this milestone. Her hard work in practice and dedication to improving her skills have solidified her status as one of the best combo guards Northeastern has ever produced. Ady takes pride in her achievements so far and remains determined to continue her stellar performances. Along the way, she has also learned valuable lessons about managing emotions and staying composed.
“Learning how to control that excitement and my emotions is probably the biggest thing for me. We face a lot of adversity on and off the court, so it’s really important for me, as an upperclassman and leader, to stay focused,” she said.
As her recruitment heats up, Kircher currently holds offers from Trinity Christian, Miami-Hamilton, and Judson University. With more offers likely to come, she’s enjoying the recruiting process and exploring her future opportunities in college basketball.
“Traveling, meeting the teams and coaches, seeing each environment, and figuring out where I fit in has been so much fun! Everyone I’ve met so far has been great. I’m very excited to see what my future holds!” Kircher exclaimed.
With redemption in her sights, Ady is determined to lead this year’s Lady Knights team to one of the best seasons in program history. Last year’s heartbreaking loss to Sheridan in the Class 2A regional championship fuels her drive. Northeastern last won a regional title in 1998, and Kircher is focused on making history this winter. Like many players, her ultimate dream is to bring home a state championship for her community.
“We came up short at Regionals last year. So I would like to make a deep run into the state tournament, and obviously, the ultimate goal for every team is to win a state championship! We’re just taking each game one at a time and trying to have the best season!” she said.
At 10-0, the Northeastern Lady Knights will aim to build on last Friday’s dominant 83-20 win over Centerville as they prepare to face a strong Lawrenceburg Tigers team. Tip-off for Wednesday’s game is set for 7:30 p.m. Fans can expect an exciting matchup between two talented teams.
