Indianapolis Ben Davis rising senior Thomas Gotkowski announced his verbal commitment to Miami (OH) University via Twitter on Friday. Gotkowski reunites with his former head coach Jason Simmons who now serves as the running backs coach for the RedHawks. Gotkowski lit up opposing defenses his junior year, completed 63% of his passes for 2,341 yards and 24 touchdowns to eight interceptions. He also held offers from Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Western Michigan and Austin Peay.
Fishers High running back Khobie Martin also made his pledge to Miami shortly after Gotkowski’s announcement. Martin is a tough runner, with tremendous balance, power and vision that made his abilities attractable to college coaches. This is what made Miami a good fit for Martin. “It is a great school academically and a solid football program that runs the ball said Martin. Simmons made Martin a priority once he landed in Oxford.”I really connected with the coaches and I was their number one pick. That meant a lot to me” Martin added. Martin tallied 1,194 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior. He chose the RedHawks over the likes of Northern Illinois, Indiana State, Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay and Illinois State.
