Hammond Morton High bolsters several college prospects for the Govs’ football team. Head coach Mac Mishler has done a fantastic job promoting his players to college coaches and scouts, through social media and a designated website highlighting prospects. Indiana Preps takes a look at some of the promising players in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 class for the Govs.

Freddy Brown is a two-way standout for the Govs. The class of 2025 ATH is a big time playmaker in all phases of the game. He’s an explosive athlete, clocking a laser time of 4.5 in the 40, and starring on the track team in long jump. Brown is a leader in several stat categories and his success has not gone unnoticed. University of Memphis is the first to offer Brown. With recent a visit to Louisville and Purdue on the schedule, Brown will continue to garner Power 5 interest.

Jai’Vale Fredericks is a 6’5 285-pound offensive line prospect that Power 5 coaches are beginning to take an interest in. The ceiling is high for the 2026 prospect and his recruitment is just heating up. Fredericks is a big, long and agile offensive line player that loves to finish blocks. The standout lineman, most recently made his way to Louisville for a visit. Expect more interest to pick up for Fredericks.

It’s all upside for 2025 quarterback Holland Harris. The 6’4 gunslinger competed well in varsity action last fall as the starter under center and Harris has been equally impressive at offseason camps. His athleticism allows him to extend plays with his feet, and he possesses enough arm strength to zip the ball on the move. As his mechanics continue to improve and he fills out his lengthy frame, Harris is a player to watch in the 2025 class.

Although there’s plenty of younger talent on the Govs roster, Dontell Harris Jr. is a rising senior in the 2024 class, that teams who are in need of a player that can do it all, Harris is the guy. Harris led the team in rushing and contributed to the defense at cornerback, also took snaps at punter. He’s a relentless player with homerun speed at the tailback spot. A dangerous kick return specialist in his own right, Harris serves as the swiss army knife for the Govs.

Other players to note include 2024 wide receiver Demario Spence, a 6’1 170-pound, rangy and athletic player with great leaping ability to win 50/50 balls. Spence can stretch the field with his speed. Gary Robison and DaVierre McNair are also players to know in the 2024 class at Hammond Morton.
