Three games. Three wins. And very little suspense.
Beech Grove put together one of the most dominant weeks of the young Indiana girls flag football season, going 3-0 from August 26–29 while outscoring its opponents 123-18.
The Hornets opened the week with a 38-6 victory over Purdue Polytechnic Englewood before returning Saturday for two more games. Beech Grove beat Crispus Attucks 38-6 in the morning and then closed the Hornet Invitational with a 47-6 win over Northview.
It wasn’t simply the offense producing points.
Against Northview, Beech Grove intercepted two passes and recorded three sacks. Amiyah Dunn returned an interception for a touchdown, while Caitlin Dibbern accounted for all three sacks as the Hornets continued creating plays on the defensive side of the ball.
The 47-point performance against Northview pushed Beech Grove to 4-0 on the season, with every victory coming by at least 20 points.
The schedule will get tougher, and there is plenty of football left to play. But through the opening portion of the season, Beech Grove has established itself as a program worth watching in the developing statewide picture.
For three victories and a combined scoring margin of 105 points, Beech Grove is the Indiana Preps Girls Flag Football Team of the Week for August 24–30.
