Opening week of the Indiana high school football season had several big time performances by players across the state. Record breaking stats and clutch performances led us to eight nominees for the Indiana Minority Coaches Association Player of the Week award. Voting is done by fan polling and the award winner is selected by attaining the highest percentage of the votes.

This week’s Fan’s Choice is Robert Lamar Jr., senior running back at Clarksville High School. This week’s fan voting reached nearly 2,400 votes and Lamar collected 36.8% of them. Lamar rushed his way into the career rushing record books last Friday night, leading the Generals to a 41-14 win over Scottsburg in the opener. His 266-yard rushing performance along with 4 touchdowns, cements Lamar as an all-time Clarksville great. The two-way standout added 10-solo tackles and a forced fumble on defense.
