From pretty much the opening kickoff, the Blazers dominated this game all night long. The Blazers only punted twice and didn’t score in 3 drives total tonight.
On their 2nd drive of the game, Laban Davis scored his first of 3 TD runs on a 16-yard QB keeper to make it 7-0. After the defense forced Angola to punt, Davis again found green grass to his right and took it to the house for a 58-yard run to give the Blazers a 14-0 lead early in the 2nd. Davis’s lone mistake of the night was a costly one as it was a pick 6 to Tucker Hasselman who returned it to the end zone to make it 14-7 Blazers.
On the very next drive, The Blazers offense took it to the 1 where Davis punched in his 3rd and final rushing TD of the night to make it 20-7 after a missed PAT with 3:23 left in the half. But the night was far from done for the Eastside QB. His first of two TD passes was a 10-yarder to Gavin Wallace, and on a made 2-point conversion, the Blazers led 28-7 with 45.4 left in the half.
Matt Firestine, who quality had a great game, punched in his lone score on a 5-yard run to make it 35-7. Davis’s final TD pass went to Lane Burns, which capped off the scoring, and the rest of the game went to a running clock.
Next week begins sectional play as Eastside (8-1) visits Bluffton (8-1) in 2A 35, while Angola (5-2) travels to DeKalb (1-5) in 4A 19.
