Huntingburg, Indiana: The first true chill of Fall was in the air tonight for this much-anticipated matchup between two of the top programs in Southern Indiana (and Class 3A, for that matter).

The Southridge offense, led by the skill position players of QB Chase Taylor, WB Camden Gasser, and FB Matt Springer, scored 48 points on the night.  Gasser had touchdown runs of 51, 24, and 10.  Taylor and Gasser also connected on touchdown passes of 30, 25, and 18.  Springer added a 2-yard touchdown run.

I was impressed with the Raiders’ Offensive Line of Lauderdale, Lange, Hernandez, Barnett, and Hayes.  The Southridge O-Line executed very well, spurring Taylor, Gasser, and Springer to make big plays.

The GS Offensive attack was led by Jr. QB Brady Allen (Purdue commit), who had a rushing TD (1 yard) and connected on TD passes of 59 yards (to Rory Heltsley) and 28 yards (to Logan Murfin).  I was particularly impressed with the TD pass to Murfin.  The pass and the catch were equally impressive.  Tailback Owen Bryant added a 2-yard TD run for the Titans.

Southridge was able to pull away in the 2nd Half, and completed a 48-28 victory over Gibson Southern.  Though nothing is guaranteed, we may very well see these two match up again in Sectional 32.

These are two of the best teams and programs in Class 3A (and Southern Indiana).  Each will continue to improve throughout the season, and each is a legitimate threat to make a deep run in the Class 3A Tournament.
