HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL, IN PREPS, Takeaways

Takeaways: Week 4

Lawrence Central Bears proved they belong in the discussion as one of the state’s premier teams by handing the Warren Central Warriors a 35-26 defeat. The Bears secured the win, without sensational linebacker Cameron McGrone, who was ejected the previous week.

Top to bottom, the most competitive class in the state is class 4A. Evansville powers Reitz and Central went head-to-head in a classic showdown. The Panthers scored the go-ahead touchdown for the win under one minute to play. Reitz getting the better of Central again for the fifth time in a row in the regular season. The next time these two meet will likely be in another sectional 24 showdown.

Franklin Central avenges two losses from 2016, knocking off conference foes Bloomington South and Columbus North. The Flashes are in position to win Conference Indiana for the first time since 2002.

Class A No. 1 ranked Pioneer has engineered four straight shutouts and scoring 184 points through week four. Next on the schedule is North White (0-4) who has given up 167 points this season. Expect the onslaught to continue for the Panthers in week five.
