When Brownsburg high school announced the hiring of head coach John Hart, the level of optimism for the program to get back on track was buzzing all through the Westside. No one knew Hart would turn it around so quickly in year one. The Bulldogs have already surpassed their number of wins from the last three seasons. To put this in perspective, the Bulldogs started 1-4 at this point last season. With the meat of their schedule likely behind them, the Bulldogs should be favored in the remaining two out of the last four games of the regular season. A tough test against a solid Westfield team on Friday night and ending the season with Hamilton Southeastern, are likely the two teams standing in the way of Brownsburg winning the Hoosier Crossroads Conference outright for the first time since 2012.
It’s well documented that Head Coach John Hart has been successful everywhere he’s been. Resurrecting this Brownsburg team, may be his most impressive job yet. This 2016 team doesn’t boast the division one talent, like years past. However, it does help to have the nation’s top quarterback leading your offense, along with a rising star in sophomore wideout Bryce Kirtz. This team unlike those the last couple of years, have bought in to what Coach Hart has done and plans to do. There is definitely excitement and energy among this team that has been missing. If the Bulldogs finish the season anywhere near 7-2 or 9-0, Hart should be considered coach of the year.
