Much like the class of 2016 at the quarterback position in the state, the depth at the safety position for 2017 is just as good. Potentially five safeties could land at the division one level in 2017. This position boast speed, size, range and great open field tacklers.

While Fishers safety RJ Potts is the only player to hold offers (Notre Dame, IU) it’s still too early to rank them. Homestead’s Matt Anderson and Cathedral’s Pete Werner could end up with double-digit offers. Avon linebacker Bryant Fitzgerald will see action at safety this fall and projects at that position at the next level. Fitzgerald is a physical specimen who can play in coverage as well as come down hill for a big hit.

Here are the Top Five safeties for 2017, college coaches will need to keep an eye on.
