Running Back

Lawrence Central

Grade: A

Exposure: Hudl film, In-Person vs. Pike, Carmel

HUDL FILM

Strengths: Good size, strength, and productivity – dual-threat running back with a bright future and the cog of LC’s offense.  Good upper and lower body strength with the frame to get bigger; is a dual-sport athlete, also playing track  Great instincts and vision – looks decisive to the hole, chooses good lanes, and has proven that he can create on his own in space.  Runs with great balance – breaks tackles and consistently runs through contact.  Runs at a low pad level and is at his best as an inside runner, but has enough speed to slide his feet, bounce outside and quickly get vertical. Has wiggle between the tackles and exhibits burst past the second level.  Has legit production as a receiver – can catch out of the backfield, makes defenders miss, and breaks tackles in space for big gains.  Versatile – lines up at receiver and will take direct snaps at times.  Carries the offense; exhibits outstanding effort, toughness, and maxes every carry.  Faces top competition.

Weaknesses: Could improve in pass protection – sometimes looks late to pick up blitzing linebackers.  Flashes home-run threat ability, but at times gets caught from behind.

Summary: Doaks is a big-time player for Lawrence Central.  He exhibits outstanding vision, effort, and toughness, all qualities that will serve him well in college football.  He’s s a legitimate Division I prospect – he has had a breakout junior season and looks poised for a great senior year.
