Carroll hosted Fishers and defending state champion Roncalli on Saturday morning and afternoon. Fishers was first up on the docket and quickly fell behind from a powerful attack from senior outside hitter Bailey Sinish, IU Indy commit. Sinish had 17 kills in the match, good for around 5.5 a set. Fishers only scored 11 in the first two sets before managing to get 16 points in the third. Sinish also led the team with aces with 4 in the game. Senior middle Addi Shippy led the blocking effort with 3. The first match was a true team effort as multiple players stepped up and made plays when it mattered, such as junior Sarah Stegall, who was able to kill multiple well-placed up the line. The Charger took care of Fishers in straight sets to move to 30 – 0.

Fishers then played Roncalli right after the first match. The Royals took the first sets in dominating fashion before the Tigers played an incredibly tough 3rd set, with the final being 25-23. Milana Mays led the Tigers in kills through the entire day, even though at times they were tough to come by. Ava Tester had a pair of aces in the 3rd set that helped keep the Tigers in it. For the Royals, senior outside Lydia Stahley was on fire in this one, hammering down an onslaught of kills. The defense was also soild as 6’1 middle blocker Lily Jones had numerous blocks, and that presence forced the Tigers to bounce outside. Roncalli ultimately won 3-0, but not from lack of trying from the Tigers.

In the final match of the day and one of the best in the state, it lived up to the hype. Carroll took set one 25-22, but it was a close and competitive match the entire time. Sinish had another 21 kills for the match but the real hidden star of the match was Loyala Chicago commit Ellie Oskey. Oskey had 9 kills on the match, and a majority of them were off the backset from Gisslen. She used two different approaches to get those kills, one, hit the ball through the floor or secondly, fake a hammer and just tap it over. It was incredibly effective for the Chargers, and that was easily the key to victory over the Royals. Sophomore Cala Haffner had three crucial aces which helped the Chargers snag set one. However, the Royals took set two in dominating fashion, handing Carroll their first set loss of the season. Stahley was on fire, smacking down 10 kills in the set, the Chargers had no answer for her swing in the second. Carroll bounced back with a 25-19 win in the third led by Oskey and Stegall. Carroll answered even better in the 4th set, winning 25-14, including some witty plays from Sophia Gisslen to steal a few points from the Royals.

Over a great showing from the Chargers as they finish the season a perfect 31-0 and turn their focus on the path to Gainbridge Field House.
