In the last home game for the Red Devils in the regular season the 4A 11th ranked Harrison Raiders rolled into West Side and scored early and often for a 3-0 win. A very strong showing from the Raiders tonight, not so much from the Red Devils.
Set by Set breakdown
1st Set: 25-15 Harrison
The Raiders stormed out to a 17-9 lead whoch forced a timeout from West Side. Mak Kettering had a pair of aces in the set; Eva Stokes and Della Bossung had a pair of kills to help the Raider cuase. West Side had an abunced of attack errors in the set which further set them back however Aubrey Alexander was stilling hammering the ball down for a few kills. The Devils took a timeout at 21-11, however it wasn’t enough as Bossung brought down the hammer to finish out the set.
2nd Set: 25-21 Harrison
This set was actually incredible active on both sides as both squads traded kills for 28 points. Kylee Dunbar had an ace for the Red Devils, while Alexander had 3 more kills and junior Sophia Andrews tacked on a pair. Eva Stokes and Bossung answered with 2 kills each to tie it back up at 14. Kettering hit an ace and Jillian Deno got 2 aces of her own which prompted a timeout from West Side. 17-14. Grace Watts gets a pair of kills to force another Red Devil timeout at 21-16. Andrews and Alexander both get kills which force a timeout 24-21 Raiders. Stokes put an end to the set with a powerful kill, giving the Raiders a 2-0 lead.
3rd Set: 25-12 Harrison
The Red Devils ran out of steam in the third basically immediately. Kettering started the set with 2 aces and a block. The attack and service errors for West Side continued in the third as they struggled to gain any traction. 2 Aces for Rose Leifsdottir forced a timeout up 17-8. It was smooth sailing from there on out as Harrison ran away in the set and it ended with a service error from the Red Devils.
Harrison moves to 20-5 with a game against Lebanon before taking on Kokomo in sectional play.
West Lafayette falls to 17-9 and takes on Pioneer before facing Peru in sectionals.
