WEST LAFAYETTE, It was a sweet senior night for #7 West Lafayette as they prevailed over #10 Tri West 3-1 on Tuesday. The Red Devils also celebrated 2000 carrerr assists for senior setter Addie Gehres. The Bruins from Lizton took set one in dominating fashion but it was all Westside from there on out.

Set 1: 25-16 Tri West Win

West Lafayette started off hot with 4 kills from Aubrey Alexander and an ace from Sophie Lee to force a timeout from the Bruins trailing 11-8. Out of the timeout Tri West was on fire going on an 8-0 run and eventually a 13-4 run to help secure the set. Lee had another ace in the set as well, other notable Red Devil stats include a pair of kills and a block by Sophie Andrew. Tri West had great performaces from Caroline Ward, Grace Hargis and Blair Benner.

Set 2: 25-20 West Lafayette Win

Tri west opened the set with an ace from Julia Middleton, but Alexander was having none of it getting 5 kills in the first 8 points. Caroline Ward was able to get a couple back for the Bruins, coupled with an ace from Hargis kept it close at the 1st time out onlt trailing by 2. A block party ensued for the Red Devils and that propel them to 19-14 lead and forced a timeout. That lead would prove insurmountable for the Bruins in the set.

Set 3 West Lafayette wins 25-19

Gehres started the set with an ace and then her team mate Alexander smacked 8 more kills down before the Bruins knew what hit them. An ace from Middleton and a kill from Ward forced Westside to burn a timeout up 12-8. Tri West took a timeout of their own time at 12. Andrews with another block and a pair of aces from Taylor George finished out the set.

Set 4 West Lafayette wins 25-17

Another ace from George and another killing onslaught from Alexander led the Red Devils to jump out to an early lead and keep that momentum throught the set. A good showing from Tri West but it wasn’t nearly enough to handle the Red Devils.

West Lafayette has 5 games remaining in the regular season and Tri West has 7 to go.
