Warren Central and Lawrence Central have both struggled during the 2021-22 basketball season. But, as we hit the final stretch before the playoffs, the time is now to put your team on the right track to make a deep postseason run. The Warriors are led by senior G/F Tae Davis who was on his way to 1,000 points Friday night. On the other side of the court, the Bears have a multitude of leaders with Joshua Mickens and Jacob Franklin leading the way.
In the first quarter, LC held a small lead over the Warriors due to Jacob Franklin’s multiple threes. The Bears finished Q1 with a 25-20 lead. The second quarter is when Lawrence Central lit up the runway expanding to a 14- point lead at halftime. Joshua Mickens scored the first points in the second half giving LC their largest lead of the night at 46-30. Warren Central went on 8-0 run and managed to shorten down the lead to 46-38. The Bears responded as Kamari Jones hit two three-pointers back-to-back at the midpoint of the third quarter. Lawrence Central entered the final quarter with a 70-60 lead and all the momentum. Nonetheless, Warren Central’s Tae Davis led an impressive comeback as well as scoring his 1,000th career point midway through the quarter. With just 0:28 left in the game, Tae Davis shot a free throw giving Warren Central their first lead of the night at 85-84. The lead would switch two more times in the last 30 seconds before stalling out at 87 points each. Lawrence Central and Warren Central prepared for overtime in a game that looked sealed just a quarter previously. Jahmad Harmon gave LC a 3-point lead with 3:15 left in OT. Their lead was short-lived as Warren Central Jo’Ziah Edmond tied the game at 95-95 with a layup. Devaon Holman put WC ahead 101-97 with just 10 seconds left in OT. The Warriors held on to the lead until the final buzzer earning themselves a hard-fought 103-101 win over Lawrence Central.
