The Indiana Preps team is headed to Columbus, Indiana for the matchup between Class 4A top 5 Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs and the Columbus North Bull Dogs. The Cubs are led by six-year veteran coach Josh Sabol, who hold a 62-58 win record at FCHS. Sabol led his program to a 22-3 record last year, reaching the final four for the first time since 1999. The Cubs are poised for a deep run led by Senior point guard Kuryn Brunson. The 5’10 college recruit started the season red hot with a 17-point showing in win over Mount Vernon. Teammates Erica Buening and Ashlyn Traylor each contributed 15-points in the season debut. Brunson, Lauren Klem and Scarlett Kimbrell were named to the Indiana Preps Players Watchlist. The Grizzly Cubs continued their 3-point shooting ways by hitting 15 of them in the win.
The Bull Dogs dropped their season opener to Hamilton Southeastern, but hopes are still high for first year head coach Brett White. The Bull Dogs have plenty of talent on their roster to have a good year. Senior forward Kylah Lawson (5’10) an Indiana Preps preseason watchlist player, added 12 points in the loss. Guard Lauren Barker is a more than capable scorer as she led the Dogs with 15 points in the contest. A player to know is 6’2 Freshman Kennedy Horn, she added 8 points in her first high school game.
