Records are meant to be broken. The Indiana Minority Coaches Association Fan’s Choice set a voting record, receiving 7,915 votes. The votes were tight for the top two choices, receiving 37.2% and 31.2% of the votes. It was a record setting night last Friday for Harrison Lafayette senior running back Hunter Newman, as he ran wild on Lafayette Jeff, securing a 56-41 win for the Raiders. Newman’s 286 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns cemented his name in the Harrison record books. The 6’0 180-pound tailback possesses legit track speed and this has helped rush for 568 yards in 4 games averaging nearly 10-yards a carry. Newman has 11-touchdowns rushing on the season.
Coming in at a close second, was the performance of Carmel Greyhound junior wide receiver Desmond Duffy. An electric playmaker with the ball in his hands, spins and ankle breaking moves earned Duffy a ton of recognition from fans. His 119-yards receiving and two touchdowns helped the Greyhounds to a 34-6 win over Pike.
