Boonville, Indiana – The SWIN Game of the Week featured the Boonville Pioneers hosting the Heritage Hills Patriots in a PAC – Big School Division Game.

After a Boonville lost fumble on its first play from scrimmage, Heritage Hills capitalized with a 33-yard FG by # 40 – Ethan Hill, giving the Patriots a 3-0 lead with 9:49 left in the 1st Quarter.  The next Pioneer possession ended with an interception by # 24 – Caleb Fakes.  The Patriots’ next possession ended when # 11 – Jacob Heidorn intercepted a Heritage Hills pass.  The 1st Quarter ended with the Patriots leading 3-0.

After a Boonville punt, Heritage Hills went on an 11-play drive, but the Pioneer defense was able to force a turnover on downs.  On the first play of the ensuing possession, Senior Tailback, # 5 – Devin Mockobee, showed why he has committed to play football at Navy, exploding for a 90-yard TD run (PAT Good) to give the Pioneers a 7-3 lead with 4:34 left in the 1st Half.

Heritage Hills answered with a 54-yard TD pass from # 8 – Jacob Schmidt to # 20 – Owen Schaad (PAT Blocked) to give the Patriots a 9-7 lead heading into the locker room.

In the 2nd Half, Mockobee scored on TD runs of 14, 61, and 26 yards, and added a 2-Point Conversion.

Mockobee certainly showed why he is an FBS-level recruit, but I would also like to mention how impressed I was with # 74 – Cameron Dorsey (Sr., DT/OT) of Boonville.  I had him (unofficially) with 10 tackles from his DT spot, and he keyed what was an outstanding effort by the offensive line of the Pioneers.

Boonville moves to 2-1 on the season, while Heritage Hills drops to 0-3.  Next week: Boonville hosts Gibson Southern, and Heritage Hills hosts South Spencer.
