A return trip to the title game for Class A favorites, Lafayette Central and Indy Lutheran will not come without its set of challenges. Whether it’s actually reaching that point in the fall season. Or a new team ready to rise up and knock off one or both of these programs. That team may just be the South Adams Starfires.
This is a squad loaded with talent. Returning nine starters on both sides of the ball is a good start. Add Indiana Preps preseason Small School All State Top 22 quarterback James Arnold into the fold, the offense will score plenty. Arnold threw for 43 touchdowns in 2019. Eight of those caught by Indiana Preps Preseason Small School All State Top 22 player in tight end Nick Miller. Three of Arnold’s top pass catching receivers also return. Indiana Preps Preseason Small School All State Top 22 player Drew Stutzman hauled in 16 touchdowns last season.
The 2019 Class A runner-up, the Lutheran Saints return its share of talent as well. Like their northern counterpart, the Saints return 18 starters. Led by veteran quarterback Blake White, who completed 117-of-301 of his attempts, going for 2,532 yards and 27 touchdowns. To aid White in the Saints return to Lucas Oil, Indiana Preps Preseason Small School All State Top 22 lineman Hayden Filipovich is there to keep him upright. The defending champs, LCC Knights will need to play catch up, their first two games are canceled due to the team being in quarantine. Luckily senior quarterback Clark Barrett will be back under center for the Knights. Barrett lit up the scoreboard in 2019, tossing for 35 touchdowns.
