GAME OF THE WEEK
#2 Avon at #3 Brownsburg
Only seven miles separate Avon and Brownsburg high school. The two Hoosier Crossroad members will hook up in this Hendricks county showdown in Brownsburg on Friday night in what is sure to be a classic. The number two-ranked Avon Orioles led by head coach Mark Bless are looking to get a leg up in conference all while beating a quality opponent in Brownsburg. The Orioles handed the Bulldogs a 62-27 crushing defeat in last season’s regular season matchup. However, Bless has not won a regular season game consecutively since the 2010 and 2011 season, his first two seasons at Avon. The good news is, the Orioles also have not lost to the Bulldogs consecutively during Bless’s tenure. Bless is 1-3 on the road during the regular season and 9-3 all-time against the rival Bulldogs. On the other hand, John Hart is 1-3 against Avon in his first two seasons as the Brownsburg Bulldogs head coach. A 30-22 win in 2016 was apart of Hart’s welcoming party. In the two matchups in 2017, Avon outscored the Bulldogs 109 to 52. This is a new season and the Bulldogs are confident heading into Friday’s game.
