On Sunday, December 10, student-athletes from five different states will ascend on to the Metro Sports Center in Evansville, Indiana with hopes of catching the eye of a college football coach. The Elliott Quarterback Academy, notably owned by former Purdue quarterback Joey Elliott, will host a football combine for high school football players, in graduating class of 2018, 2019 and 2020. In junction with Indiana Preps Network and East Coast Football, these athletes will compete in front of 30 college football programs ranging from division 1-FCS to division 3.
Camp director Aaron Elliott says that two-thirds of the college programs attending will be able to offer some type of financial aid to prospective athletes. The camp will be structured similar to the NFL combine. The athletes will be tested in the 40-yard dash, L-drill, pro-agility and will perform position specific drills. Nearly 150 athletes are expected to attend the College Showcase. Some notable names from around the state include Evansville Memorial quarterback-receiver duo, Michael Lindauer and Branson Combs. Evansville Central standout linebacker Kiave Guerrier is expected to make an appearance.
With the cutoff seeming to be around 150 spots, the quarterback position is completely sold-out. There are still some spots available especially the defensive back position. If the cost is a problem, the staff and Indiana Preps has a “scholarship” that provides a discount to deserving players in need. Please email us at indianapreps@gmail.com for more information.
