Key Factors
No.2 Carmel: The Hounds have been rock solid in all three phases of the game. Physical on defense and an offense with great balance. Junior Quarterback Michael Viktrup has stepped up this season, protecting the football and making plays. Senior Isaac James is one of the most exciting players in the nation with the ball in his hands. Senior running back Shakir Paschall is a big body, and physical style of running tends to punish defenses late in the game. Rising prospect Noah Burks at linebacker keeps opposing offenses out of the end-zone more times than not.
No.5 Ben Davis: Despite the loss to Warren, the Giants are still considered the favorite to reach Lucas Oil when it’s all said and done. Senior Quarterback Kyle Castner is smashing Giants’ records and leading an offense that can score at will. The defense continues to gel and make the necessary plays in key situations. The overall speed on the defense poses a problem for most teams and it will be interesting to see how Carmel reacts.
WINNER
CARMEL 31-28
All signs point to Ben Davis in the personnel department, but I think Carmel’s defense can make a few big stops late in the game. Plus the “Hound Nation” student section will be loud and proud for their team.
