The senior quarterback threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns in a sectional-opening victory, earning 55 percent of the fan vote.
Sheridan senior quarterback Brock Hagan is the Indiana Preps Football Player of the Week after delivering one of his most efficient performances of the season when the Blackhawks needed it.
Hagan completed 11 of 14 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns in Sheridan’s 40–21 victory over North Miami in the opening round of Class 1A Sectional 43.
His performance earned him 55 percent of the votes in this week’s Indiana Preps fan poll.
The numbers tell part of the story. Hagan completed nearly 79 percent of his attempts, averaged more than 18 yards per completion and helped Sheridan produce 40 points in its postseason opener.
But the circumstances made the performance particularly important.
Sheridan entered the fourth quarter leading North Miami just 27–21 after the Warriors scored twice in the third period. The Blackhawks responded with 13 unanswered points over the final 12 minutes to secure the victory.
Hagan’s passing production complemented a strong rushing performance from Hayden Alexander, who finished with 166 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries. Landon Moffitt added four receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown.
Together, they gave Sheridan the offensive balance needed to advance.
For Hagan, the performance also reflected his importance to the Blackhawks throughout his senior season. The quarterback entered the week with more than 1,500 passing yards and 15 touchdown passes, providing Sheridan with a consistent threat through the air.
Now 6–4, Sheridan faces its most demanding postseason assignment yet.
The Blackhawks host undefeated Pioneer (10–0) on Friday, October 30, in the sectional semifinals. The Panthers are coming off a 70–0 victory over Taylor and have not lost this season.
For Sheridan to extend its postseason run, Hagan’s ability to make efficient decisions, connect with his receivers and keep the offense balanced will be critical.
His latest performance earned statewide recognition and strong support from Indiana Preps readers.
His next opportunity comes against one of Class 1A’s unbeaten teams.
