Indianapolis — Cardinal Ritter High School’s Adelaide Galbreath has been named the first-ever Colts High School Woman of the Year, an honor created by the Indianapolis Colts to recognize outstanding girls flag football athletes across the state of Indiana.
The award celebrates players who exemplify character, leadership, and teamwork both on and off the field. Nominations were submitted by school and team administrators statewide, with finalists evaluated on academic success, community service, and football performance by a Colts-appointed selection panel.
“Football instills important life skills beyond the sport itself, so we’re proud to recognize Adelaide and all our nominees, who exemplify these values as student-athletes and school and community leaders,” said Mike Prior, Colts Legend and current Football Development Commissioner.

A Leader on the Field
As captain of Cardinal Ritter’s first-ever girls flag football team, Galbreath made an immediate impact. She played quarterback on offense and cornerback on defense, averaging one interception and six flag pulls per game while helping guide the Lady Raiders through a historic debut season.
A Leader in the Community
Galbreath’s impact stretches far beyond the field. She is an active volunteer with St. Susanna Church, the Sustainable Meals Initiative, the Gift Kindness Program, and works closely with the Plainfield Optimist Club. She also participates in Cardinal Ritter’s Latin Club, further reflecting her commitment to service and academic excellence.
“Addie represents the very best of what high school students can achieve when they combine academic excellence with genuine service to others,” said head coach Leo-Anthony Ortiz. “She has excelled in multiple areas while maintaining a spirit of service and dedication to lifting others up.”
