Carmel High School football is welcoming back a familiar face as Kevin Wright returns to lead the Greyhounds as head coach. Wright, a decorated figure in Indiana high school football, previously coached Carmel from 2010 to 2014, guiding the program to unprecedented success. His tenure included a Class 5A state championship in 2011 and consecutive runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2014. Under his leadership, Carmel amassed an impressive 54-11 record.
Wright departed Carmel to take on a new challenge at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, one of the nation’s premier high school football programs. During his time at IMG, he helped solidify the academy’s reputation as a powerhouse in developing top collegiate and professional talent. From there, he transitioned to the college ranks, serving as the tight ends coach at Indiana University from 2020 to 2023.
Before his initial run with Carmel, Wright built a legacy at Warren Central, leading the Warriors to three consecutive state championships in 2003, 2004, and 2005. His ability to produce championship-caliber teams has established him as one of Indiana’s most successful and respected football coaches.
Wright’s return to Carmel brings a wealth of experience and familiarity with the Greyhounds program and Indiana high school football. His track record of success and deep understanding of the game are expected to make an immediate impact.
With Wright’s proven ability to develop talent and foster winning cultures, expectations are high for the Greyhounds as they look to reclaim their place among Indiana’s elite programs.
