Standing at 6 feet tall, Randolph Southern junior Haleigh Allen is making waves in the Mid-Eastern Conference as a versatile forward who has the tools to elevate her team to new heights. Allen has developed into a standout player, boasting a remarkable shooting ability and a knack for attacking the basket at all three levels. Her relentless focus on fundamentals has led to a stunning 56% shooting percentage from the field.

As one of the state’s top three-point shooters, Allen emphasizes versatility as her greatest strength. Transitioning to a wing role this season, she has worked diligently on perfecting her form and timing to make an even greater impact on the court.

“I am trying to work extremely hard on my timing by making sure that my form is correct and really improve my shooting at all three levels. Transitioning to a three has also been beneficial,” Allen shared with Indiana Preps.

Dominance on the Court

Allen’s season is off to a stellar start, highlighted by eye-popping performances such as a 37-point, 13-rebound double-double against Muncie Central and a 29-point, 6-rebound outing versus Centerville. Her leadership and talent have been instrumental in Randolph Southern’s best start in years, as the Lady Rebels currently sit undefeated at 4-0 and aim for their first sectional title since 2013.

Coach Jordan Austin has recognized Allen’s leadership qualities, naming her the team’s honorary captain. A selfless player, Allen consistently puts her teammates first, working to make the right basketball play and elevate those around her.

“My coach has presented me with the opportunity to be a leader with this team, and I want to make him and the school proud. We have to trust the process and be willing to accept constructive criticism,” Allen said.

A Team on a Mission

After last year’s early sectional exit against Tri, Allen and her team are determined to turn things around. Belief, hard work, and chemistry are the cornerstones of their approach this season.

“It will be important that we are consistent with our work ethic and continue to grow our chemistry and embrace our roles. Keeping positive attitudes and learning from our mistakes will be beneficial,” Allen explained.

Eyes on the Future

Allen’s recruiting process is in its early stages, with a few letters of interest already received. Despite the lack of offers so far, she remains grounded, trusting that hard work and faith will guide her to the right opportunity.

“I am open to going anywhere which presents me with the educational program I am interested in. I try not to focus on recruitment and am just putting in the work to improve my game and help my team. I know God will direct me to where I need to be,” Allen said.

Allen’s focus extends beyond individual accolades—she’s committed to being a great teammate, a coachable player, and a leader for the Lady Rebels. By improving her ball handling and studying film, she aims to become a more complete player.

“I really enjoy our team this year and the coaches. If we work as a unit and keep grinding, we can achieve some great things.”
