The DePauw Tigers are off to a scorching 6-0 start in the 2024 season, claiming their place atop the North Coast Athletic Conference and proving themselves one of the premier Division III programs in the Midwest. Ranked No. 12 in the D3football.com polls, the Tigers head into their home matchup against Wittenberg this Saturday in Greencastle, determined to keep their winning streak alive.

Head Coach Brett Dietz, a 2004 Hanover College graduate, has transformed the program since taking the reins in 2020. In just four seasons, Dietz has compiled a remarkable 30-6 record, establishing the Tigers as a powerhouse team within the division.

Key contributors to this successful season are several former Indiana high school standouts. Quarterback Nathan McCahill (Cathedral) has been instrumental, throwing for 1,551 yards with just two interceptions in 146 attempts. Complementing the aerial assault, running back Caden Whitehead (Park Tudor) has racked up nearly 500 rushing yards. Wide receiver Robby Ballentine (Andrean) is also approaching the 500-yard mark, bringing depth and dynamism to the Tigers’ offense.

On the defensive side, linebacker Luke Marsh (Western Boone) leads the team with 34 tackles, while defensive back Christian Troupe (Brebeuf) leads with three interceptions. The Tigers’ defense has been stifling, allowing just 12 points per game through the first six games—a testament to their resilience and preparation.

After this weekend’s game against Wittenberg, the Tigers will face road games at Kenyon and Hiram before returning to Greencastle for the highly anticipated Monon Bell game against Wabash College on November 16. This historic rivalry matchup will close out the regular season and could set the stage for a deep playoff run, as the Tigers look to avenge last year’s early exit against Alma in the first round.

With a balanced attack and a relentless defense, DePauw has all the pieces in place to make an impact in the postseason and bring glory back to Greencastle.
