We are past the halfway mark in the 2021 regular season, and Week 6 brings us to the proverbial homestretch of regular season play.

A huge game, one that will decide the Circle City Conference Championship, will pit a matchup of undefeated teams (each 5-0), as the Roncalli Royals (#1 in both Class 4A Polls) host the Brebeuf Jesuit Braves (# 1 in both Class 3A Polls).

Roncalli enters the game having allowed just shy of 15 points per game.  The Royals’ Defense has an incredible 12 players with 20+ tackles (through 5 games).  Leading tacklers are Sr. LB Daniel O’Connor (39 Tackles) and Sr. S Johnny Roeder (35 Tackles, 1 Int.).  Also keying the Royals’ Defense is Sr. LB (and Indiana Preps Big School Preseason All-State Selection) Tyson Garrett.

The Royals’ balanced offense (nearly 200 yards Passing per game, and nearly 230 yards Rushing per game) starts with the leadership of Jr. OL Trevor Lauck (an Indiana Preps Underclassmen Preseason All-State Selection).  Other key contributors for the Roncalli Offense are Sr. QB Aidan Leffler (13:2 TD/INT ratio), Jr. RB Luke Hansen (397 yards rushing, 5 TD’s), Sr. ATH Caden Gore (326 yards rushing, 3 TD’s), and Sr. WR’s Kyle Lockard (428 yards receiving, 7 TD’s) and Gore (307 yards receiving, 6 TD’s).

The Braves’ Defense is keyed by Sr. DL Joe Strickland (Purdue commit and Indiana Preps Small School Preseason All-State Selection) (5 Sacks through 5 games).  Jr. LB Cole Williams enters as the leading tackler (34 tackles for the Brebeuf Defense).

The Braves’ Offense figures to center around the explosive, big-play ability of Sr. WR Max Walters (32 catches, 613 yards receiving, 7 TD’s) in the Brebeuf passing attack.

There are matchups galore to watch for in this one.  Lauck vs. Strickland in the trenches figures to be instrumental in how this one will play out.  Also, will the Royals’ Secondary be able to contain Walters on the perimeter?

Class 3A #1 v. Class 4A #1.  Who will come out on top in what figures to be an epic match-up?  The winner figures to gain even more momentum as we inch closer to the 2021 State Tournament.
