The Indiana Preps SWIN GOTW for Week 1 of the 2021 season featured the Columbus North Bulldogs and the Gibson Southern Titans.
GS Sr. DB Brayden Malone helped set the tone of how the game would ultimately play out, intercepting a CN pass early, and on the interception return provided the Titans with good field position, ultimately capitalizing with a 5-yard TD connection from Brady Allen to Rory Heltsley (Sr., WR, 6’4”, 200). This was the first of what would ultimately be FOUR TD receptions for Heltsley (who also finished with 219 yards receiving) on the night.
Allen would finish the night 24-of-39 passing, with 377 yards and 5 TD’s. Sr. WR Kaden Hurless also caught a 24-yard TD pass from Allen. Sr. TB Adrean Lukeman added a 13-yard rushing TD to open the 4th Quarter.
The Bulldogs had their share of highlights as well, as QB Luke Hammons connected with Cooper Horn on a spectacular 23-yard TD Pass. Hammons was also able to connect with Damon Edwards for a TD, as well. Max Mormino also had a Rushing TD for the ‘Dogs.
The star power of the Titans ultimately powered Gibson Southern to a 1-0 start on the 2021 campaign. The Titans will travel to New Albany next week, while CN will look to bounce back against rival Columbus East.
