GAME OF THE WEEK
no.17 Columbus North vs no.15 Columbus East

As both teams enter week two of the season, they do so after posting impressive wins on opening weekend. Columbus North beat Franklin soundly by a score of 52-7 while Columbus East left no doubt against Bloomington North with a score of 62-7. As these longtime rivals look to settle this year’s score, the Columbus East Olympians own the bragging rights with a record of 23 wins to Columbus North’s 21.

This non-conference rivalry shapes up to be a good one. Columbus North likes to pass the ball and they do it well. Quarterback Triston Perry threw for three touchdowns last game, tying him for fourth on the all-time completions list in school history. While Columbus East prefers to run the ball. They rushed for 399 of the total 513 yards during last week’s game against Bloomington North.

Columbus North is also excited to welcome back this game starting nose tackle, Hunter Wolford. Wolford is back in action after tearing his Achilles tendon during last year’s sectional game against Center Grove.

“Off-Season surgery and tireless rehab work have allowed Hunter back into action,” explained Head Coach Tim Bless.

While across the field, Columbus East’s senior center Harry Crider, just recently wrapped up a very successful fundraiser alongside Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health to bring awareness to Type 1 diabetes. Crider was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 10 and remained close to the cause, learning along the way how to manage his condition. But he didn’t just manage his condition, he exceled. Crider just within the last two weeks, committed to play his college football at IU.

A lot to root for in this game, both on and off the field. – (@indianahsgotw)
