Senior running back Markell Jones was announced today that he is the 2014 Gatorade State Player of the Year for Indiana. Following a record breaking season and leading his Columbus East team to a 13-1 record that ended in the state’s semifinal game. Jones set the new single season rushing record with 3,536 yards. He did this on 312 carries and his 60 touchdowns was one shy of tying the single season state record. In his career, Jones rushed for 7.793 which is also second in Indiana history.

Markell Jones is set to sign with Purdue in February.
