Columbus East 2015 RB Markell Jones received his first offer from the University of Toledo this morning. Jones said he received a message from Toledo coach Eli Rasheed extending him his first offer. “I’m super stoked” said Jones. “I’m just blessed that Coach Rasheed offered.” The rising junior-to-be has been busy on the camp and 7on7 circuit with Indiana based football group Preps2Prospects. He made several stops at Illinois, Memphis, Northwestern, Cincinnati, Ball State and Indiana. Jones stated that he was relieved to finally get his first offer. “Finally got that monkey off my back. A huge relief and it’s a great feeling” he said.

He is receiving interest from Indiana, Northwestern, Iowa and Cincinnati. He plans to visit Ball State on Wednesday. “Coach Bateman invited me to practice so I’ll be there” Jones said. In regards to Toledo, he plans to visit for a game this fall and talk to the coaches.

Jones is ranked in our INPrep50 list and the number two ranked running back in the state. As a sophomore, Jones rushed for 1,610 yards and 22 touchdowns on 226 carries.
