INDIANAPOLIS — It wasn’t decided until 175 pounds.

In a team race that swung by half-points and momentum shifts, Center Grove High School secured its first IHSAA boys wrestling state championship Saturday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, finishing with 137 points — just ahead of Brownsburg High School at 133.5.

For Brownsburg, it was a bid for a third consecutive state title. For Center Grove, it was uncharted territory.

The difference came from junior Sean Breedlove.

At 175 pounds, with the team title still unsettled, Breedlove delivered a 12–8 decision over Carter Fielden of Garrett to seal both his individual championship and the team crown. He finished the season 38–0, closing the door on Brownsburg’s comeback hopes.

A Race Measured in Half-Points

The night carried tension from the middle weights forward.

After Braylon Reynolds of Brownsburg won the 144-pound title, the Bulldogs briefly moved in front 133.5–133.0 in the team standings. It was the narrowest of margins — and it didn’t last long.

At 150 pounds, Crown Point’s Clinton Shepherd defeated Brownsburg’s Tommy Gibbs, halting Brownsburg’s surge and keeping the championship within Center Grove’s reach. That result ensured the final outcome would hinge on Breedlove’s match at 175.

He delivered.

Brownsburg’s Champions

Despite finishing runner-up, Brownsburg left Indianapolis with three individual state champions:

  • Traevon Ducking (113 lbs) — back-to-back state champion
  • Case Bell (120 lbs) — back-to-back state champion
  • Braylon Reynolds (144 lbs) — pivotal win that briefly gave Brownsburg the team lead

It was a finals performance that nearly flipped the standings.

Individual Champions and Milestones

The 2026 championships produced individual milestones across the state:

  • Connor Maddox (106 lbs), Westfield High School — sophomore; first wrestling state champion in program history
  • Traevon Ducking (113 lbs), Brownsburg — repeat champion
  • Case Bell (120 lbs), Brownsburg — repeat champion
  • Evan Stanley (138 lbs), Lowell High School — junior; 9–8 decision for first title
  • Braylon Reynolds (144 lbs), Brownsburg — critical late swing in team race
  • Linkin Carter (157 lbs), Eastside High School — senior; first state champion in school history
  • Matthew Staples (165 lbs), New Prairie High School — sophomore; second consecutive title
  • Sean Breedlove (175 lbs), Center Grove — 38–0; clinched team championship
  • Michael White (190 lbs), Lawrence North High School — senior; 47–0 and nationally ranked No. 1
  • Ceasar Salas (215 lbs), Crown Point High School — sophomore; 7–0 decision for first title

Four wrestlers completed undefeated seasons: Maddox, Carter, Breedlove and White.

Westfield and Eastside both celebrated the first individual wrestling state champions in program history — a reminder that while the team race centered on two power programs, the night belonged to programs across Indiana.
