This week’s SWIN Game of the Week will bring Indiana Preps to Southridge High School, as the host Raiders will host the Gibson Southern Titans, at Raider Field, in a Class 3A and PAC Big School Division vs. Small School Division showdown.  This could also very well serve as a preview of a future Sectional 32 matchup.

Gibson Southern (3A # 8, Coaches) (2-2, 2-0 PAC) enters this one after a wild-and-crazy 43-35 shootout victory at Boonville.  The Gibson Southern offensive attack was led by Jr. QB Brady Allen (committed to Purdue), who passed for just shy of 300 yards against Boonville.  Allen also had 4 TD passes against the Pioneers.  Sr. Tailback Owen Bryant also added 2 TD runs against Boonville.  The Gibson Southern receiving core features a balanced attack, with four different receivers over 100 yards on the season to this point (Malone, Murfin, Heltsley, and DeLong).

Southridge (3A # 3 AP, # 4 Coaches) (4-0, 2-0 PAC) has rolled right along in its season to this point, its defense having pitched three shutouts (v. Linton-Stockton, @ Boonville, and @ Pike Central) in the first four games of the 2020 campaign.

The Raiders’ ground-based attack, which has steamrolled opponents to this point to the tune of nearly 400 rushing yards per game, is spearheaded by Sr. QB Chase Taylor, who comes into the game having rushed for 10 TD’s and nearly 500 yards on the season.  Other key contributors to the Southridge ground game are Sr. WB Camden Gasser, Sr. WB Matt Springer, and Soph. WB Reid Schroeder.

This game, on paper, figures to be a contrast of styles offensively, with the Titans’ air attack taking on the ground attack of the Raiders.  Can the Gibson Southern Offense make an impact against what has been a very stout Southridge Defense to this point?

This should be a fantastic football game at Raider Field on Friday night.
